Gan Chev Giving: December In Review

If you follow us on social media, you will know that December kept us busy! All month long we have been giving away prizes to our valued customers and giving back to our wonderful community. We filled our days with fun online contests and got out to support many local organizations. If you missed our social media posts, here is a little summary to let you know some of things we were up to in December.

We started out the month by helping a family reclaim their family room! The winner of our tire storage contest had been storing the tires for her Chevrolet Cruze in her basement family room. Not only did we pick up her tires and store them for the winter for her, we surprised her by showing up with an added bonus, a board game! Now that she doesn’t have to store her winter tires in her family room, she can use the room to play games and spend time with her family.

Our Gan Chev service department donated some awesome prizes to help us thank our valued customers. We gave away 2 free oil changes, a gift certificate to have a vehicle detailed, a $100.00 service credit and 2 sets of Kingston Frontenac Tickets. We had lots of fun reading everyone’s Facebook comments and looking at all the kindness selfies that were posted on our Facebook page. Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to all of our winners.

Our favourite part of December was all the good deeds we accomplished in our community. We started out with warming the heads and hands of the 2 elementary schools in Gananoque. Our Christmas Elf Dale delivered a bag of winter hats and mittens to both schools this month. Now on cold winter days kids who don’t have mitts or a hat, or forgot them at home will be able to keep warm at recess! We also donated some grocery store gift cards to our food bank. The gift cards were purchased from our 2 local grocery stores, Baldree’s No Frills and Metro. The staff and volunteers at the Gananoque Food Bank can use the gift cards to purchase fresh produce, meat and dairy for their clients. Not only does the Gananoque Food Bank service their clients all year long, but every year they provide a full Christmas dinner to all their clients. We were happy to have helped out this organization in a small way.

We also reached out to Carveth Care Centre here in Gananoque to see if there were any events we could help out with for their residents. We were so happy to provide a driver and a vehicle from our loaner fleet one evening in December to take some residents on a tour of lights around Gananoque. This is an annual event that Carveth organizes for their residents using the Wheels of Care Bus. The bus can seat 6 residents and 3 wheelchairs. Because of our 2017 Chevrolet Traverse 3 more residents were able to enjoy this evening out touring the Christmas lights around Gananoque.

These are just some of the ways we gave back to our customers and community this December during our month of giving. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see what we have planned for the new year. Happy New Year!

According to Visit 1000 Islands, one of the most memorable ways to experience the 1000 Islands is to see it from above. There are numerous locations where you can take a planned tour or custom charter along the region, and you van even get a high-definition video of your trip. With the changing leaves, the tour is bound to be unforgettable.

For those who are afraid of heights, you can tour the islands on a short cruise. There are themed cruises for people who are interested in specific excursions, but each boat tour comes with food services and special events. You can get up close and personal on these boat tours, seeing the vibrant colours and still waters along the 1000 Islands region.

Finally, visit the Gananoque Brewing Company. Housed in the Bell Tower mall—a historic building constructed in 1860—the Brewing Company has a special tour of the facilities, a tasting flight, samples, and more. Just be sure to get a designated driver if you plan on drinking.

The helicopter tours, boat rides, and the brewing company are three of the top things to do in Gananoque this fall.

Plan Your Visit: Things to Do in Kingston, ON

As Canada’s first capital city, Kingston is known throughout the country. There’s tons to do in the area, whether you love historical events or family friendly activities. Regardless of what you’re looking for, there’s something for everyone in Kingston, ON.

One of the top things to do in Kingston is to stop by Fort Henry. Built during the War of 1812, this fort is located on the water overlooking the St. Lawrence River. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this place has reenactments that any history buff can enjoy.

If you’re in the area, you must take a Thousand Islands boat tour. This extensive archipelago is a natural wonder, offering scenic views and unparalleled kayaking. If you’re looking for a fun way to relax with the family, sign up for a boat tour near Kingston.

Finally, check out the Kingston Public Market. Since 1801, the market has been providing a spot for vendors to sell produce, flowers, crafts, and more. The Wolfe Island bakery is well known for its fares, but there’s a whole list of products you can find at the Ontario’s oldest market still in operation.

These are just some of the many fun things we here at Gananoque Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac recommend. Plan your trip today.
